My Child Won't Hold Still!

I think my child is doing gymnastics in my stomach! Such a wiggle worm! Either that or she's practicing mixed martial arts... I'm sure Phil will be pleased.

Phil was able to SEE Lillian kick my stomach last night from the other side of the sofa! I was sitting back with my legs up and I saw my stomach move. I told Phil to look and just as he looked over she kicked me again! I can't believe how strong she is.

Camping for My Birthday

This weekend Phil took me camping for my birthday. It was a great trip, except sleeping on the air mattress was a tiny bit difficult... not to mention my several bathroom trips during the night were to the great outdoors... I knew what I was signing up for when I asked for a camping trip so I am not complaining one bit! We got to eat hot dogs and tons of other camping snacks. John and Jay were there which makes camping even MORE fun because they are camping guru's and never forget things at home like I do. John is also a great chef! If I were on a wagon train heading West, I would want John there to cook for me.
The weather was perfect. Just cloudy enough to protect us from the sun when we felt it was getting a little too warm. That didn't keep us from getting a little red in places that haven't seen the sun for several months though.
Needless to say, this is probably my last camping trip until next year. I can't imagine doing it any further along that I am now and I'm not sure how much babies enjoy the great outdoors. We'll see though...

Baby Furniture

To give you an idea of what the complete nursery will look like, here are the furniture items I am hoping to use.

Tommie (mother-in-law) took me to look at some baby furniture when she was here a few weeks ago. What a daunting task! There are so many to choose from. We both agreed that white looks good for a little girl and Lillian will be able to use it for years to come because the bed converts to a toddler bed then to a full bed. Unfortunately all of this furniture is online only from baby's R us but that just means it won't have to be carried anywhere!

Try to envision this furniture with the walls posted below:

Painting the Nursery-Part 2

Here are the most recent photos of the nursery. I added a blue stripe on the top and a purple stripe on the bottom... I still need to remove the painters tape from either side of the purple but the picture with the light switch shows the finished product.

My friends who have kids have told me it's much easier to get the whole nursery together in the 2nd trimester because the 3rd trimester I'll be big, bulky, hot and irritable. Not until the very end will the "nesting" take over and have me cleaning and organizing, but it would be best to get everything done sooner rather than later.

The next step is to decide what kind of flowers I want to paint!

Painting the Nursery-Part 1

Let's just say that I am glad I started painting the nursery sooner rather than later. I'm afraid it's going to take me a little longer than I had originally hoped. At least I have something to keep me busy for the next 4 months while I patiently wait for our little one to get here.

As you can see, the walls are a bright green... This weekend I added the pink stripe all the way around and then taped off the portions to be painted different colors. I plan to put a blue stripe at the top and a purple stripe at the bottom of the big pink stripe. The green curtain is temporary until I get the curtains that go with the crib set. It was a lot of work, taping off the edges... but I'm sure the result will be well worth it.

I am planning on adding flowers to the top portion of the wall, but I haven't decided if I'll use the stickers or if I'll paint them myself. Because I have 4 months to work on it I may just do it myself. Here are the pictures from this weekend.

20 Weeks. Half Way Done!

My first bare belly shot... Believe it or not, I am a rather shy person. Having my bare, pregnant belly exposed for all the world to see is a little scary, but I'm so proud of it!

I am officially half way done with my pregnancy. So far I've had a little nausea, a little heartburn, a few cravings and some emotional outbursts... nothing too major and nothing really worth complaining about. Life is good!

As you can see, Kobi (golden retriever) is eagerly awaiting the coming of his little sister... he is going to be a great big brother! I've seen little children barely able to walk, cling to his fur and hold on for dear life, and he just stands there patiently. I know he and Candy both will be great dogs for Lilly to grow up with and that they'll be very protective of their new little charge.

The Nursery!

Now that we know we're having a little girl my "decorating fever" has kicked in. We decided to paint the walls a bright green... This was decided before we knew if it was a girl or a boy, because green goes well with both blue and pink.
The first picture is the complete crib set as seen online. The next picture is the diaper holder held up against our cool green walls to make sure the colors go well together. The last picture is a set of three wall hangings that came with the crib set. As you can see, they all go really well!!
I can't wait to clean out the nursery of all our garage sale stuff and turn it in to an actual nursery!!

As you can see, the green walls make the set look completely different but I love it! We are going with a botanical theme so green is the perfect color! As we get more done we'll post updates.
