15 Weeks! 25 Weeks To Go!

Here is a picture of our little baby's arm. Can you see the fingers?
How your baby's growing: Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). He's busy moving amniotic fluid through his nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in his lungs begin to develop. His legs are growing longer than his arms now, and he can move all of his joints and limbs. Although his eyelids are still fused shut, he can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, he's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but he is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")

We tried to find out if it's a he or a she at the 13 weeks appointment but the baby had it's legs together. At least it's modest! We have our appointment to find out the gender on March 16th, the day before St. Patrick's Day! I am hoping for a boy but a girl would be wonderful too. As long as our baby is healthy we'll be fine.

The morning sickness has gone away for the most part. If I let myself get hungry I'll feel nauseous but as soon as I eat something I'm right as rain! My energy has returned so I've been able to get a lot of the unpacking done lately too.
My next post will probably be to announce if it's a boy or a girl! Stay tuned!

Painting Party

Above is a picture of our bedroom. This is the only room with the original wood floors.

This is a picture taken from the dining room toward the living room and front door.

My friend and neighbor Jeanne helping paint the master bedroom.

I'm painting trim in the bedroom.

Phil was hard at work painting the living room a nice neutral color. That green color was just too bright for our liking.

From a House to a Home

After several years of renting, Phil and I decided to do what several of you have done many times in the past. Yes, we bought our first house!

Keep in mind that I get buyers remorse if I have to spend too much on a can of soup at the grocery store, so this was a huge deal. After a lot of research, soul searching, asking around, and educating ourselves on the process we felt confident enough in this decision to go forward.

The house we were lucky enough to buy is in our current neighborhood, The Fairmount Historic District. It was built in 1920 and has a lot of old charm and character. Renovations and updates have been done in the last 90 years which make it modern enough for us without taking away too many of the historic properties.

We hope you can visit!

First Post-For Mama Sue

Welcome to my blog! I have created this specifically to update family and close friends with exciting events and some day-to-day activities that Phil and I have going on. This is open to the public so Mama Sue, you won't be required to join any social networking sites in order to read or see the pictures. You can also forward the link to friends or other family members if you think they would enjoy an update as well.

Feel free to check back periodically to see what's cooking in our growing family. I look forward to sharing with you all!
